According to North Gyeongsang Province and related industries on the 28th, North Gyeongsang Province, Gumi City, IonQ, and domestic quantum company SDT signed a four-party memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation in quantum technology and supply chains at IonQ’s headquarters in Maryland, USA, on the 23rd (local time).

Under the agreement, the four institutions and companies decided to review the possibility of establishing a back-end supply chain for IonQ quantum components, including testing, packaging, and assembly, centered in Gumi, and to identify cooperative projects in which local companies and universities can participate. Prior to this, IonQ and SDT signed a multi-year strategic partnership on the 21st and decided to build a dedicated quantum manufacturing and system integration facility in Gumi. This facility is scheduled to carry out the packaging and manufacturing of IonQ’s silicon vacancy defect (SiV)-based quantum memory, as well as the assembly, integration, and commissioning of quantum systems.

Under the agreement between IonQ and SDT, Superion 256 and SiV quantum memory are also scheduled to be supplied domestically.

Following the agreement with IonQ, Gyeongsang Province also signed an MOU with the State of Maryland for strategic cooperation in the quantum industry.
