Jeonju University announced on the 20th that Professor Haeseong Lee, the Department of Carbon and Nanomaterial Engineering, has been appointed chair of the ‘Joint Technical Committee for Quantum Technology’ (IEC/ISO), jointly established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Korea was honored to be the chair country in recognition of its contributions to the IEC Quantum Technology White Paper in 2021 and its participation in the Quantum Technology Standardization Evaluation Group (SEG14) activities since 2022.
Professor Lee was selected by votes of member countries to lead the joint technical committee with the United Kingdom as the secretariat country, acknowledging his significant contributions to the White Paper and the establishment of a roadmap for quantum technology standards in the SEG14.
Expressing gratitude to the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards and Jeonju University for their support in international standardization activities, Professor Lee stated, “As the first chair, I will endeavor to support the industrialization of quantum technology in Korea through international standardization efforts.”
